District 6780 - PDG Carol LaRue

Past District Governor Carol LaRue has been a member of the Rotary Club of Maryville since 1991. After serving the club as program chair, Carol served as a board member and chaired each Avenue of Service committee before being elected club president for 1997-1998.

After being introduced to Group Study Exchange, Carol's focus moved to the district level. She served on and chaired the District 6780 Group Study Exchange Committee for three years, was a committee member of the District RYLA Committee and chaired the District Centennial Committee 2003-2005.

Carol completed the District 6780 Leadership Academy in 2000 and served as a faculty member for two years. She served as District 6780 Rotary Foundation Chair in 2004-2007 and helped district clubs learn how to use the tools of The Rotary Foundation to expand the scope of each club's programs.

Carol owns a financial consulting firm in Maryville, Tennessee, and has completed 13 years in private practice. She has followed her father into this work and enjoys serving more than 400 households as they meet their individual financial needs.

On a national level, Carol serves as board member of a national marketing firm, which seeks to identify ways to put competent financial services into financial institutions. Carol holds professional designations as CLU (Certified Life Underwriter) and ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant) awarded by The American College of Bryn Mawr, Pa.

Carol has been active in her community with Habitat for Humanity serving on the Women's Build project. She is a Trustee for Harrison Chilhowee Baptist Academy, a private school in Seymour, Tennessee, bringing international students from 14 different countries for an American education.

Carol has earned a professional designation of Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) through Toastmasters International.

Carol's family also loves Rotary.

Her son, Chris, is a member of the Maryville Rotary Club and Past President of the Alcoa Rotary Club. His wife, Jennifer, is an avid scrapbooker and works with Carol in her practice.

Caleb and Kimber are the treasured grandchildren who hope to enjoy Rotary Conventions with Carol in the future.
