Following is an abbreviated list of the activities that each of the Globe Clubs engaged in to achieve the Globe Club Award.  Perhaps this will give your club some ideas to help achieve this award.  Our goal is to have all clubs in the District receive a Globe Club Award.  The superscripts refer to the criterion satisfied.


Alcoa Rotary  is supporting the Heifer Project.1  They worked with Japenese famileis through Maryville College International Student Association to purchase personal and househould items after the earthquake and tsunami.2 They had a program on the Heart 2 Heart Project.3

 

Chattanooga Rotary has a partnership with the Rotary Club of Bratislava, Slovakia providing support to a handicapped children's facility.  They provided funds to send someone to train teachers and to fund the women's shelter in Bratislava.1  They are sponsoring an incoming and outgoing Youth Exchange Student.2  They had programs on polio eradication, the German Marshall Plan and IOR Global Services.3

 

Chattanooga Hamilton Place Rotary is pursuing a matching grant to provide water filters for poor residents of Lima Peru.1  They are a host club for the incoming GSE team from Thailand.2  They have ongoing programs on international understanding.3

 

Cleveland Rotary is working on an international project that consists of a water well and septic system for Xatinab, a small mountain village outside the city of Santa Cruz de Quiche in Guatemala.1  They are sponsoring a Youth Exchange student  from Oberhausen, Germany.2  The Club had two international programs:  the youth exchange student from Germany talked about the differences and similarities between the US and Germany and they had a program presented by Jennifer Norton who spoke about her six week trip to India where she worked at the orphanage in Channai, India.3

 

Clinton Rotary is contributing funds to the Global Medical Ministries of the Methodist Church for water filtration plants in remote areas of the Honduras.1  They will assist the Oak Ridge and Kingston clubs in hosting and transporting the GSE team.2  They have scheduled the returning Ambassadorial Scholar to speak on her experiences in Brazil.3

 

Cookeville Breakfast Rotary provided support to a water project in Ghana.1  They are hosting a New Generations French student; providing support to the GSE team; and hosting a Brazilian Youth Exchange Student.2  They had a program on the Ghana project.3


Crossville Rotary is supporting the Ghana water project.1  They are supporting an outbound Youth Exchange Student in Germany.2  A Youth Exchange Student from Brazil presented a program.3


Dayton Rotary contributed to the Ghana water project and to the Heart 2 Heart project.1  They nominated an Ambassadorial Student.2  They had a program on the Ghana project.3


Fairfield Glade provided support to the Ghana water project and they are the International Partner in a Rotary Foundation Humanitarian grant project to provide education/classroom equipment, laundry equipment and water purification needs to support current and future growth plans for Casa Hogar Emmanuel Orphanage in the Guadalajara,1 Theywill be the repeat host of the District 6780's inbound Youth Exchange students this Spring for a day of activities at the Fairfield Glade resort.2  They had programs on Shelter Box and human trafficking.3


Farragut Rotary is working with our District 6780 and with District 2440 in Turkey to continue the breast cancer awareness and early detection program using the funds from the 3-H Grant; they are supporting the Heart 2 Heart project; and Linda Bellich, a club member, conducted a workshop at the Rotary Europe, Eastern Mediterranean and Africa Conference in Switzerland in September 2010 regarding Vocational New Generations Exchange.  Linda was one of the two presenters from the United States.1  The Rotary Club of Farragut sponsored Rachel Bellich as a part of the New Generations Exchange program.  In addition, the club sponsored the following:

o    Christina Chrone, a medical student from Denmark who had an internship at our Mercy Hospital in Knoxville.       

o    Jasmine Martin from Knoxville was an NGE to Brazil.  She interned in a hospital in Brazil. 

o    Renata Boppre, an inbound NGE from Brazil that "shadowed" teachers at Webb School. 

o    Ana Laura Spangler, also from Brazil interned at ST. Marys in January,

o    Jake Crowder is outbound NGE to Denmark in May,

o    Leonardo Di Chuia from Italy is due in May, and

o    Two high school students Veronica Eres and Dane Despins (Webb and Farragut) are going on long-term exchanges. Veronica is going to Switzerland and Dane is going to Germany.

o    Marco Tulio Caixeta, a Brazilian Exchange Student, spoke to the club about his country and about his experiences while in Knoxville.

And they will participate in the GSE team visit.2  They had programs on Polio Plus, Denmark presented by the New Generations student, and the new MBA program at UTK in Global Supply Chain.3

 

 

Hamilton Place Rotary Chattanooga Hamilton Place is pursuing a matching grant to provide water filters for poor residents of Lima Peru.1  They are a host club for the incoming GSE team from Thailand, and will host between April 21 and 25, 2011.2 

 

Gatlinburg Rotary partnered with all five county-wide Rotary clubs to partner with the Rotary club of Demerara, Guyana, and Remote Area Medical to provide dental hygiene kits.1  They will provide assistance in hosting the GSE team.2  They had a program on the Guyana project.3

 

Kingston Rotary contributed to the Heart 2 Heart project in Mexico.1 They will serve as a spoke club for the incoming GSE Team from Thailand.2  The leader of last year's GSE Team to Taiwan gave the program on their experiences; Ken Thoms will give a program on his trip to Egypt and the incoming GSE Team from Thailand will give a program.3

 

Knoxville Breakfast Rotary supported the Heart 2 Heart project in Mexico.1 They hosted twelve Youth Exchange Students at a University of Tennessee football game including a tailgate party, the Vols Walk, the football game and a dinner afterwards.  They will host the GSE Thailand Team. 2 They hosted Ambassadorial School Maggie Stevens who attended school in Brazil.3

 

Loudon Rotary gave a donation to the Rotary Japan & Pacific Islands Disaster Recovery Fund.1 After spending several years in the Middle East, Darren Searle was able to assist several Iraqi Nationals to obtain their US Visas.  As a Rotarian, Darren personally assisted and coached 3 different Iraqi families once they arrived in the US.  He assisted each of them in educational, occupational and domestic development, as well as their cultural differences.2   They had a program on Heart 2 Heart project.3

 

Manchester Rotary donated funds to Shelter Box for the victims of the Japanese earthquake.1  They will be supporting the Tullahoma Sunrise Rotary which is hosting the GSE team from Tawain.2  John Elrod presented a program on his experiences with the clean water project in Guatemala.3

 

Maryville Rotary is the lead contact club for the Heart 2 Heart project.1  They will be a spoke club for the GSE team from Thailand.2  The club heard a presentation by Jessica Murphy, our Ambassadorial Scholar to Uruguay and Fred Heitman did a program on polio eradication and Ron Appuhn will do the Mexico Heart 2 Heart program in April.3

 

McMinnville Breakfast Rotary partnered with the McMinnville Noon Rotary to build a well in Uganda.1  They presented the 4-Way Test to a local Hispanic Ministry through an interpreter. 4-Way Test cards were given to each of the parishioners along with the explanation of how to implement these simple yet profound questions into making quality life choices.2 A member gave a presentation on his trip to Iceland.3

 

Monteagle Rotary with communication through the Cluj, Romania Club provided support for a key project for those who have lost their health and freedom because of dependence on legal and/or illegal drugs, disease of HIV/AIDS, or domestic violence; program funding goal (G.O.A.L. Project) for "Reducing Gender Based Violence against Rural Women in Kenya and Tanzania" with the focus on alcoholic abuse by spouses; and they continued funding for water purifiers in Kenya through LEAMIS Ministries.1    They continued hosting support for transportation, for International Students who have been selected to attend the Sewanee Summer Music Festival in July 2010.2  They hosted programs from Romania St. Dimitrie (as well as Moldavia) on local alcoholism, drug abuse, and continued human trafficking in Romania and Moldavia.  Funding support for Kenya, focused on clean water, and reducing gender based violence (Kenya and Ivory Coast).  Assistant District Governor Dan Hatfield provided the Rotary Foundation program focusing on Polio Plus, and motivation to achieve the Star Club and Polio Eradication awards.  Programs are being planned for 2010 - 2011 rotary year and that carry over into 2011 - 2012; of recent world travel by members which focus on historical and cultural areas of the world.3


North Knoxville Rotary donated to the Heart 2 Heart project.1 They will be a spoke club for the GSE team from Thailand.2  Dr, Doiron spoke to the club about his work in Haiti and the Jimani project.  Karengaye Johnson, architect for the Jimani project,  spoke about the clinic.3

 

North River Rotary completed the sanitation project in Dominica in July with a Grand Flushing Ceremony, attended by Rotarian Mary Beth Sutton; they continued its involvement in Uganda this year, supporting orphans in school and providing shoes for kids; and they are pursuing a new project in Haiti with the UTC College of Engineering - a village sanitation project that would be locally fabricated and replicable.1  They are sponsoring Allison Kwesell as a Peace Fellow and they will be a spoke club for the GSE team from Thailand in the spring.2  Blythe Bailey, GSE team member to Taiwan spoke and Allison Kwesell spoke on Polio Eradication in India.3


Oak Ridge Breakfast Rotary is working with a Rotary Club in Haiti on a water project.1  They will be a spoke club for the visiting GSE team and they and they have an Ambassadorial Scholar in the University of Jordan.2 

 

Pigeon Forge Rotary participated with all five county-wide Rotary clubs to partner with the Rotary club of Demerara, Guyana, and Remote Area Medical to provide dental hygiene kits.1 They have volunteered to host the GSE team.2  They had a program on the Guyana project.3

 

Rockwood Rotary donated funds to the Heifer project.1  They are hosting a youth exchange student from Brazil this year.2  The youth exchange student will give a program.3

 

Sevierville Rotary partnered with all five county-wide Rotary clubs to partner with the Rotary club of Demerara, Guyana, and Remote Area Medical to provide dental hygiene kits.1  They will provide assistance in hosting the GSE team.2  They had a program on the Guyana project.3


Sevierville Sunrise Rotary  participated with the Demerara, Guyana, and Remote Area Medical to provide dental kits.1  They will provide assistance in hosting the GSE team.2  They had a program on life in China.3


Seymour Breakfast partnered with all five county-wide Rotary clubs to partner with the Rotary club of Demerara, Guyana, and Remote Area Medical to provide dental hygiene kits.1  They will provide assistance in hosting the GSE team.2  They had a program on the Guyana project.3

 

South Campbell County Rotary donated to the Heart 2 Heart project.1  They will assist the Oak Ridge Club during the GSE team's visit to the Museum of Science and Energy.2  They had a program on the Heart 2 Heart project.3


South Knoxville Rotary donated to the Heart 2 Heart project.1  They will host the Thailand GSE team for a tour of The University of Tennessee Medical Center.2  They had a program on the Heart 2 Heart Project.3 


South Pittsburg Rotary they participated with the Hamilton Place Club in the purchase of water filters for Peru.1  They will host the GSE team.2  They had Ambassadorial Scholar Eben Cathey speak and they will have the GSE team speak at a meeting.3


Sparta Rotary supported the water project in Haiti.1  They will be a spoke club for the GSE team.2  They had a program on Polio Plus.3

 

Tellico Lake Rotary is a participating financial partner with the 2011 Heart to Heart Rotary Pilgrimage to Mexico City.1  They will be a Spoke Club for the GSE team.2  They had a program on the Heart 2 Heart project.3


Tullahoma Rotary donated $500 to District project Heart2Heart and contributed over 80 volunteer hours Project CURE - an organization that gathers surplus medical supplies from area hospitals and individuals and ships them overseas to needy areas.1  They will serve as a hub club for the GSE team from Thailand.2  They had a program on the Haiti earthquake given by Jack Baltz, a Nurse Practitioner in Martin, who was ther.3


Tullahoma Sunrise  donated to theHeart2Heart project.1  They will serve as a Spoke Club for the GSE team.2  They had a program on Polio Plus.3


West Knoxville Rotary contributed to the Heart 2 Heart project.1  They will host the GSE team.2  They had three international programs:  John Bailey spoke about the Foundation, Amanda Douglas spoke about her trip to Taiwan as a member of the GSE team, and Victor Ashe, former Ambassador to Poland, spoke about his experiences there.3
