 Following is an abbreviated listing of the activities that each of the Globe Clubs engaged in to achieve the Globe Club Award.  Perhaps this will give you some ideas to help your club achieve this Award.


 July 13, 2009-Maryville  Rotary is lead/contact club for five humanitarian matching grants with Mexico D4170 that were submitted to the Rotary Foundation on July 1; they sponsored Michael Henry as an Ambassadorial Scholar candidate and they heard a presentation by Sean McCune, regional development manager of Mercy Ships.


 July 13, 2009-Morristown Noon Rotary conducted a literacy project in Thailand and two literacy projects in India, they hosted an exchange student from Thailand and they heard a presentation at the club by Mr. Vasily Dyakov of Vologda, Russia, who will discuss Russia-USA relations from a citizen's-eye view.


 July 15, 2009-Rockwood Rotary donated $500 to the Heifer Project and may participate in a water project later in the year, provided hosting services for Foreign Exchange Students at Rockwood High School and provided joint hosting (with the Kingston and Harriman clubs) of  an incoming GSE Team and they had presentations by Foreign Exchange Students from Rockwood High School.


 July 15, 2009-North River Rotary has a number of projects.  They have ongoing project in Haiti to replace pumps in broken water wells.  They are also working with Tellico Lake on a needs survey of elementary schools in Leogane, Haiti.  They are  supporting a sewage treatment project in a poor fishing village in Dominica and they are supporting an orphan education program in Uganda through one of our club members.  We sponsor several individual students for $250 per year per student and get frequent reports on conditions in UgandaNorth River will be the host club for an incoming youth exchange student this year. They are preparing to nominate a Rotary Peace Fellow candidate in the 2009-10 year.  They had speakers on Polio Eradication,photography in 3rd world countries and how it can support peace, and on Bridge Refugee Services, settlement and integration of refugees in Chattanooga.


 July 21, 2009-Rogersville Rotary Jointly sponsored the multi-club Thailand literacy project.  The club hosted an exchange student from Thailand for a day during Rogersville's Heritage Days.  The club has a fundraiser (funnel cake sales) during the event.  The exchange student will have an opportunity to visit the event and tour our town along with Rotary club and Interact members.  Program to be presented on the Thailand literacy project. 


 July 29, 2009-Knoxville Rotary partnered with the Rotary Club of Knysna, South Africa, to assist and support impoverished and underfunded pre-school and after-school education programs by furnishing books and other educational materials to pre-schools in and around Knysna, South Africa.  They through the donor-directed support of member Townes Osborn made a contribution to support the Rotary Club of Knysna's Safe Cycling Program.  They partnered with the Rotary Clubs of Matezalka, Hungary, and Kisvàrda, Hungary, and participated in the summer youth exchange program during July 2009.  They furnished more than 75 books to children in Leon, Nicaragua, during July 2009.  The Rotary Club of Knoxville's meeting program for August 4, 2009 will feature Erin Bernstein, Rotary Ambassadorial Cultural Scholar.


 August 6, 2009-Chattanooga Rotary has a relationship with several clubs in Slovakia and has been supporting a school for handicapped children there.  This year we are preparing a matching grant application to provide educational materials for the school and training for teachers.  These teachers will in turn train their peers, so that our investment is considerably leveraged.  Chattanooga will host a youth exchange student from Germany starting in August, 2009.  Niklas Utrovicic will attend McCallie School in Chattanooga.  They have scheduled Reda Mansour, the Consul General of Israel and Dr. David Abshire, Dr. Abshire who served as Special Counselor to President Regan, Past Ambassador to NATO and currently presides over the Center for the Study of the Presidency and he is a member of the Project on National Security Reform. To speak in March.


 August 24, 2009-Morristown AM sent children books and personal supplies to Kenya to initiate a relationship with a mission based project outside of Nairobi.  In October Rotary Am will send books to a school in Liberia run by the friend of a club member. Morristown AM is supporting the effort to send books to India by contacting our local Library for contributions of books to donate to the project headed up in our district by Bill Zier Rotary Noon of Morristown. Morristown AM will provide hosting activities for an exchange student, Brandon, from Thailand.  He will be invited to our club social functions and we will show him around the area to help acclimate him to the culture, people, and happenings of our area.  We will also provide hosting services for Denice and William Aludo who are both workers at the Globe Mission in Nairobi, Kenya.  William is a citizen of Kenya and our club will take an active role in familiarizing him with East Tennessee.  They are also planning programs on India and Kenya, Denise and William Aludo will conduct the program on Kenya and a local Doctor's wife from India will do our program on India.


 August 25, 2009--Farragut Rotary worked with District 6780 and with District 2440 in Turkey to roll out the breast cancer awareness and early detection program using the funds from the recently awarded 3-H Grant.  They sponsored a Rotary Exchange Student, Martin (Tino) Janikov  from Slovakia for the 2009-2010 school year.  In addition Farragut Rotary has a quarterly shower for a refugee family through Bridge Refugee Services.  They also nominated an Ambassadorial scholar, Sonia Trevino Doptka.  They had a program in July 2009 featuring Marilyn Bresnan from Bridge Refugee Services and Fred Heitman conducted a program on Polio Plus which included a video of a family affected by polio in Pakistan.


 October 19, 2009-Crossville Rotary is sending a delegation to Ghana, Western Africa, to continue efforts on the "Ghana Well Project" which will include visiting schools and Crossville Rotary's partner the Rotary Club of Accra.  They are hosting an inbound Youth Exchange Student and sponsoring and Outbound Student.  They had a speaker on the Guadalajara Orphanage Project a project of the Fairfield Glade Rotary. 


 November 12, 2009-Fairfield Glade Rotary is the International Partner in a Rotary Foundation Humanitarian grant project to provide education/classroom equipment, laundry equipment and water purification needs to support current and future growth plans for the Casa Hogar Emmanuel Orphanage in the Guadalajara (Mexico) metropolitan area.  They are also continuing support of Crossville Rotary's Ghana water well project. Fairfield Glade Rotary Club will host all the District's inbound Youth Exchange kids this Spring for a day of activities at the Fairfield Glade Resort. Two Club meeting programs were dedicated to International understanding:Paul Wennermark spoke in Sep/Oct to four District Rotary Clubs about the purpose and plans of our Matching Grant project to help support the expansion plans for the Casa Hogar Emmanuel Orphanage in Guadalajara, Jalisco-Mexico and Jim Everett, Crossville Noon Rotary Club, spoke in November about his recent trip with two other Crossville members, to Ghana in support of more water well drilling projects and a health fair.


 November 23, 2009--Cleveland Rotary is working with People for Care and Learning (PCL) on a water project near Phnom Penh, Cambodia.  This project would provide clean drinking water, bathing and sanitation facilities for about a third of a housing development that is being build by PCL, Habitat for Humanity and the Red Cross.  Three of these Waterloos will be required for this project.  Cleveland Rotary is hosting a Youth Exchange Student from Norway for the 2009-2010 school year.  Cleveland's Youth Exchange Student presented a program about her home in Norway and her experiences and impressions of the US since she has been here. 


 November 29, 2009-McMinnville Breakfast Rotary provided financial support for the group foster home that we helped to establish in Cristestii, Romania that provides a safe and loving environment for approximately 20 - 25 children.   McMinnville Breakfast Rotary nominated David Snowden, our President Elect, to be a GSE Team Leader, to Taiwan.  Breakfast Rotary was treated to an interesting program from Susie Dyer in October 2009, who came home to McMinnville after completing her two years in the Peace Corps and serving in Mali, Africa.  They also heard a presentation by Karen Zabriskie, about a project in Uganda


 December 2, 2009-Oak Ridge Rotary donated $2000 to Mexico Heart to Heart Project.  Jack Bailey, Club President, is serving as District Chairman of the GSE Committee.  And Oak Ridge Rotary will serve as a hub club or spoke club for the inbound Taiwan GSE team.  They had a number of programs on international topics:   Maggie Stevens, outgoing Rotary Scholar to Brazil, spoke to the club about Brazil; Mike Stevens, "Hometown Hero", spoke to the club on his experiences in Viet Nam and Iraq; GSE Team Leader Jim Holleman and GSE Team Member spoke to the club about their trip in India and PDG John Bailey, Jr., will speak to the club about the Rotary Foundation and World Understanding


December 5, 2009-Jefferson City Rotary committed $400 to the Morristown Noon Club's 2009-10 Thailand Literacy Project.  They will entertain Brandon, the Morristown Noon Club's exchange student from Thailand, at our 2009 annual Christmas function on December 14, 2009, in order to help acclimate him to East Tennessee and to better acquaint him with the story, tradition and spirit  of Christmas.  Rotarian Bill Zierer will give a program in late January, 2010, about his friendship visit to Rotary Clubs in an upcoming journey to San Marino, Malta, Cyprus, Turkey, Georgia and Armenia. 


 December 9, 2009-West Knoxville Rotary supported the Heart to Heart Program in Mexico and will send a member to Mexico in February to visit the project sites.  West Knoxville sponsored Amanda Douglas on the GSE outbound team to Taiwan and will host the inbound team for ½ day.  Ron Appuhn spoke to the club about Heart to Heart and Carol Pandak also spoke about Polio Plus.


December 10, 2009-Oak Ridge Sunset Rotary supported the Heart to Heart Program in Mexico by contributing towards the purchase of an ambulance.  Melissa Rahmanian spoke to the club about programs and opportunities through Roane State Community College for International studies and exchange programs.  They will host the GSE Team on a Tour of Oak Ridge: The Friendship Bell, American Museum of Science & Energy, The 100th Anniversary Rotary Park and then lunch with our member: Donna Sullivan at the Hot Bagel. Sunset Rotary entertained 2 speakers from our District (Fred Heitman and Bill Sergeant) to expound on the Rotary Foundation and the importance of being a Paul Harris Fellow and maintaining our club status as a PH sustaining club.  Sarah Terpstra came and shared her experiences on her mission trip to Peru


 December 21, 2009-Dayton Rotary has committed to partner with the Chattanooga club for its project to support a Women and Children's Shelter in Bratislava.  They will host personnel from the Bratislava Women and Children's Shelter for at least half a day, and some will be staying with members of the club.  Steve Keck presented a program on the Chattanooga club's project in Slovakia to support a battered women and children shelter.  Also, in February the director of that shelter will speak.


 January 7, 2010-North Knoxville Rotary contributed to the Ghana Water Project.  They were a Hub for the inbound GSE team from Pakistan.  Patrick Ryan spoke to the club about the Ghana Water Project.


 January 28, 2010-Bradley Sunrise Rotary supported an orphanage in Chennai, India that was started by Dr. Aaron Samuel a member of the Bradley Sunrise Rotary.  A member of the Bradley Sunrise Club will be a host family for Idun Eiken, a Norwegian Youth Exchange Student.  A program was presented  about the John Vital-Herne Orphanage in Leogane, Haiti. 


January 29, 2010-Chattanooga Hamilton Place Rotary contributed to the Heart-to-Heart projects, supporting the matching grants for an ambulance and Infant Radiant Cradles.  The club is supporting 2 child care centers in Lima, Peru and several members will make a trip there in late May with the Interact Club.   Chattanooga Hamilton Place has pledged support to the Haiti Relief Fund and Shelterbox.  They are hosting the GSE team from Taiwan  and they are also co-hosting a youth exchange student from Belgium.  They had a number of speakers on international topics.


 February 12, 2010-Knoxville Breakfast Rotary contributed to the Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund.  Hosted the Youth Exchange Team at a UT football game and also will be a hub club for the inbound Taiwan GSE team.  They had a speaker from Bridge Refugee speak to the club about refugee problems. 


 February 21, 2010-Etowah Rotary Found temporary housing for 48 Haitian orphans that could be coming to our area as a result of the recent earthquake in Haiti.  This Christmas season provided food and clothing to a family in need from the Netherlands who now live in our area.   Alex Tullock a young University of Tennessee student who had spent eight months in Russia last winter visited our club  and shared his experiences and related differences between our countries and cultures. 


February 21, 2010-Oak Ridge Breakfast Rotary partnered with a Rotary Club in Haiti to support a clean water project.  The Club has provided financial support, and a group of members is planning to travel to Haiti to work on the project.  They hosted an Ambassadorial Scholar from Hungary February who spent the night with one of the members and was provided a tour of some of the historic sites in Oak Ridge, and presented a program to the club.


 February 24, 2010-South Pittsburg Rotary will contribute $450 to the efforts for clean water in the Leogane area of Haiti being coordinated by the North River Club.  South Pittsburg will be a spoke club for the Pakistan GSE team.   Tom Kale spoke to the club about Disaster Relief for Haiti.


 February 27, 2010-Shelbyville Breakfast Rotary has partnered with the Asian Children's Education Fellowship in the Nation of Nepal with the 6780 District Matching Grant to drill two water wells.  Shelbyville Breakfast Club continues to change the face of our community as our Adult Training Center teaches English Language to 200 plus students each week. Students are from many Central and South American countries as well as Somalia , Laos and Vietnam.  Kevin and Bryan Nerren updated the Club on water well progress after returning from their Oct. trip to Nepal.


 February 27, 2010-Shelbyville Rotary donated $1,000 to purchase a Shelter Box for HaitiToured Shelbyville with South Korean students who are currently attending Webb School in Bell Buckle.  Tom Kale, Chairman, Disaster Response Committee spoke on the Haiti Relief Efforts of Rotarians in District 6780 and the Taiwan GSE Team will speak to the club.


March 6, 2010-Harriman Rotary  will donate money to a project called "The Invisible Children of Uganda" that has been taken on by the RotarAct Club at Roane State Community College.  They (along with the Rockwood and Kingston clubs), are serving as a Hub for the incoming GSE Team from Taiwan.  The Taiwan GSE Team will give a program.


 March 8, 2010-South Campbell County Rotary made a financial contribution to the Rotary Ghana Project in Ateiku, Ghana.  Bill Zierer of Morristown Rotary took Thai foreign exchange student, Brandon, to a meeting. Brandon dined with us and later, answered questions about his homeland.  A scheduled trip to the local water plant had to be cancelled because of inclement weather.   District Polio Plus Chairman Fred Heitman provided the program on November 3, 2009.  Fred discussed Rotary world-wide efforts to eradicate polio.


 March 10, 2010-Cookeville Breakfast Rotary members joined with Crossville Noon members in October 2009 on a trip to Ateiku, Ghana as part of an ongoing international service work project -- clean water and literacy work.  This year, the group added sponsoring a health fair raising funds raised to send doctors, nurses, a dentist and vision specialists to Ateiku to attend to the medical needs of hundreds of people who would not otherwise get care.  Cookeville Breakfast Club  will be the Hub Club for the GSE team from Taiwan in April, 2010.  Club member Pat Ryan, who was a team member on the Ghana international service project, gave a presentation on the project.


 March 11, 2010-McMinnville Rotary continues to support the Rumanian orphanage that they have supported for several years.  They were a spoke club for the GSE team from Pakistan.  They had a program presented by Karen Zabriskie on  the work that His Grace is Sufficient Ministries is doing in Uganda to help dig wells and provide storage sheds for crops.


 March 11, 2010-Monteagle Rotary club provided funding for water purifiers in Kenya through LEAMIS International Ministries as well as funding for travel for the team members that installed the water purification units and trained Kenyans who would maintained/sustained the units in the future.  Along with the Rotary Club of Cluj, Romania, we provided support for a project that addresses alcohol and substance abuse in Cluj.  They provided hosting support for transportation for international students attending the Sewanee Summer Music Festival in July 2009.  They hosted a program that exposed the facts about alcoholism, drug abuse, human trafficking and family abuse in Romania and Moldavia, several club members presented programs on international travels and  Jim Roxlo provided a Rotary Foundation program to the Club.


 March 12, 2010-Tellico Lake Rotary partnered with Farragut Rotary in a 3-Grant for Turkey and donated to the Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund.  They were a spoke club for the Pakistan GSE Team and they nominated an Ambassadorial Scholar.  They had presentations on Polio Plus, GSE Team from South Korea and on a medical mission to Haiti


 March 12, 2010-Knoxville Volunteer Rotary contributed to the Morristown Noon Club's Thailand Literacy Project.  They were a spoke club for the Pakistan GSE Team.  They had presentation on the Thailand Project and the Heart to Heart Project. 


 March 15, 2010-South Knoxville Rotary had a presentation on the Heart 2 Heart project and the club provided financial support to the project.  They were a Spoke club for the GSE Team from Pakistan.  They had a presentation on Polio Plus.


 March 15, 2010-Gatlinburg Rotary participated in a number of projects:  partnered with the Sevier County clubs and the Rotary Club of Demerara, Guyana, and Remote Area Medical to provide dental hygiene kits and they participated financially in the Morristown Thailand water project.  They provided lodging for Youth Exchange participants during the InterAct Conference in Pigeon Forge. They had programs about the Guyana project.


 March 15, 2010-Pigeon Forge Rotary participated in a number of projects:  partnered with the Sevier County clubs and the Rotary Club of Demerara, Guyana, and Remote Area Medical to provide dental hygiene kits. They sponsored the Youth Exchange Conference in Pigeon Forge during the InterAct Conference.  Townes Osborn presented a program on her participation in the India National Immunization Day in 2009.


 March 15, 2010-Sevierville Sunrise Rotary partnered with the Sevier County clubs and the Rotary Club of Demerara, Guyana, and Remote Area Medical to provide dental hygiene kits.  They provided lodging for Youth Exchange participants during the InterAct Conference in Pigeon Forge.  They had programs about the Guyana project.


 March 15, 2010-Seymour Breakfast Rotary partnered with the Sevier County clubs and the Rotary Club of Demerara, Guyana, and Remote Area Medical to provide dental hygiene kits.  They had International students as speakers for the club.  They had a speaker from China discuss the differences and similarities between US and Chinese cultures.


March 22, 2010-Smithville Rotary  contributed to the Ghana Water Project.  They hosted the GSE team from Pakistan.  They had a program on the countries of the mid-East highlighting the differences in culture and religion.


March 23, 2010-Fayetteville Rotary Coordinated and facilitated the donation of hospital beds to Hope Through Healing Hands for the Haiti Earthquake Relief effort.  They were a hub club for the Taiwan GSE Team.  They had a program on their water project and the people of Gustatoya, Guatemala


 March 25, 2010 Sevierville Rotarypartnered with the Sevier County clubs and the Rotary Club of Demarara, Buyana, and Remote Area Medical to provide dental hygiene kits.  They sponsored the Youth Exchange Students' Conference at the InterAct Convention.  Stan Brock and Mary Vance presented a program on the Guyana medical/dental project. 


March 25, 2010-Grundy County Rotary implemented an international project with two of our Club members traveling to Rwanda/Uganda in May.  They will visit schools there and donate school supplies. We have worked closely with foreign students at.  We have included foreign students from St. Andrews School as volunteer readers at a local elementary school to introduce our local children to different cultures.  Club members hosted these two Chinese students at their home for spring break.  Rotarian Tom Kale made a presentation to our club regarding Disaster Relief in general and the Relief program in Haiti, in particular.


 March 25, 2010-Tullahoma Noon Rotary contributed to the Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund by purchasing a Shelterbox, contributing to Project Cure and to Polio Plus.  They were a spoke club for the GSE Team from Taiwan.  They had program on Polio Plus and Heart 2 Heart.


 March 29, 2010-Lenoir City Rotary provided financial support for the Haiti Earthquake Relief effort.  They hosted a Christmas party with Santa and presents for Middle Tennessee Head Start which serves a number of Hispanic Children.  They had a program on the Haiti water project.


 March 29, 2010-Lebanon Rotary supported the Living Waters water project in Honduras.  They were a spoke club for the GSE Team from Pakistan.  The GSE Team presented a progam.


 March 29, 2010-Crossville Breakfast Rotary Partnered with Fairfield Glade Rotary on its orphanage project in Guadalajara.  A member gave a tour of the local hospital to an exchange student.  A Youth Exchange Student was scheduled to speak to the club. 


 March 29, 2010-Loudon Rotary contributed to the Shelter Box program for the Haiti Earthquake Relief effort.  They were a spoke club for the GSE Team from Pakistan.  Ron Appuhn gave a program on Heart 2 Heart.


April 3, 2010-Manchester Rotary contributed to the Haiti Earthquake Relief Effort through Shelter Box.  They provided dictionaries to 3rd grad students including Spanish dictionaries for Hispanic students.  They had a program given by one of their members on the details of a cultural and mission visit to central India


April 5, 2010-Kingston Rotary contributed to the Haiti Earthquake Relief effort.  Served as a hub club for the GSE Team from Taiwan.  They had program on the different religions of Europe, Polio Plus and the Taiwan Team gave a program. 


 April 5, 2010-Tullahoma Sunrise Rotary  contributed to the Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund by purchasing a Shelterbox, contributing to Project Cure and to Polio Plus.  They were a spoke club for the GSE Team from Taiwan.  They had program on Polio Plus and Heart 2 Heart.


 April 9, 2010-Jamestown Rotary contributed to the Guadalajara Orphanage Project.  They were a spoke club for the GSE Team from Taiwan.  They had a program on the Guadalajara Project and on the water project in Ghana.


 April 16, 2010-Lafayette Rotary contributed to the Heart 2 Heart Project.  They worked with TTU graduate student on Ethiopia water project.  The student gave a presentation to the club on the water project. 


 April 16, 2010-Hartsville Rotary contributed to the Haiti Earthquake Relief Effort.  They worked with TTU student on Ethiopia water project.  They had a presentation from the student on the project.


April 16, 2009-Carthage Rotary planned a project in Africa with an African club but project was not funded because the African club did not complete paperwork.  They worked with TTU student on Ethiopia water project.  They had a presentation from the student on the project.


 April 16, 2010-Smith County Rotary provided funding for the Heart 2 Heart Project.  They worked with TTU student on Ethiopia water project.  They had a presentation from the student on the project.


 April 21, 2010-Sparta Rotary contributed to the Haiti Earthquake Relief Effort.  They hosted theTaiwanese GSE Team.  They had a program on Every Rotarian Every Year and the Annual Programs Fund. 


April 22, 2010-Cookeville Rotary member led a group of 21 students plus additional faculty on a study-abroad trip to Puebla, Mexico.  They proposed an Ambassadorial Scholar and they cooperated with both GSE Teams this year.  They had a program on the trip to Mexico.


 April 26, 2010-Clinton Rotary contributed to the Water Project for Rotary Club of Evanston, Lighthouse, IL.  They hosted a group of Indonesian high school Children.  They had a program on Polio Plus.


 April 27, 2010-Mt. Juliet Morning Rotary contributed to an AIDS clinic in Old Mutare Zimbabwe.  They were a Hub club for the GSE Team from Pakistan.  They had a program prio to the GSE Team visit on Afgahanistan. 


 April 28, 2010-Mt. Juliet Noon Rotary contributed to an AIDS clinic in Old Mutare Zimbabwe.  A member hosted two of the Pakistani GSE Team members.  They had a program by the Carthage Rotary on its water project. 


May 26, 2010-Winchester Rotary assisted with a water well for a farm in Haiti and supported a local high school's water project in Haiti.  They provided support for Miss Phylinda Lorene Ramsay to teach English in China.  John Bailey gave a program on the Rotary Foundation. 


May 27, 2010-Lebanon Breakfast Rotary sent funds to the Friendship Christian Academy Living Waters Project in Honduras in conjunction with the Lebanon Noon Rotary.  They were a spoke club for the Pakistani GSE team and the Pakistani team presented a program. 


June 2, 2010-Franklin County AM Rotary provided funds and supplies for a Haiti relief project led by Rtn. Dr. Roger Jurich.  They assisted a local woman who will be teaching English in China with a small grant.  AG Gordon Lane spoke on the Rotary Foundation. 


June 8, 2010-Alcoa Rotary contributed funds to the Heifer Project.  They assisted Global Connections, an organization that arranges host families for international students at Maryville College, with its annual picnic.  Roger Larsen presented a program on Haiti. 


June 28, 2010-Livingston Rotary contributed funds to an international project in Ghana.  They will host a Tennessee Tech graduate student from India.  Pat Ryan will speak to the club about the Ghana Project.
