District 6780

Four-Way Speech Competition

Want to have a positive impact on the high school students in your area? Do you want to share the meaning and purpose of Rotary to high school students who many well be future Rotarians?

Instilling the values of the Rotary Four-Way Test into this group of students will have a profound influence on their lives as they enter adulthood. Values formed will shape their lives as they approach their careers and endeavors. What could better influence values of our youth than the Four-Way Test!!!!

In order to lessen the competition with spring school activities and to increase appeal of this Competition, changes are being made for the year 2009-2010.

First, the District competition will be move to March 2010 so proms and spring break can be avoided. Secondly, prizes for winners will be designated as scholarships. Thirdly, guidelines and protocols will be provided upon request.  Incoming Presidents were encouraged to contact high school speech and English teachers or guidance counselors prior to the end of the 2008-09 school year.  With this change, school sponsors should be able to incorporate speech preparation into their next school year's plans.  If schools were not contact at the end of the 2008-2009 school year please contact schools as soon as the 2009-2010 school year begins.

With these changes, your Club should plan on having your conpetition concluded in early January.

If you have not received your materials or have any questions for the Four-Way Speech Competition please contact Ron Lawrence - 865-567-3132 or ron.lawrence@summitviewhm.com

Once you have received your materials begin contacting your high school sponsors for grades 10-12. Interact Clubs speech teachers, English teachers, and guidance counselors are an excellent source of student participants.

We look forward to your Rotary Club participating in the 2009-2010 Four-Way Speech Competition.
